Just kind of curious, how so many people have stumbled upon this newsgroup and why you decided to stay.

Some of you were here from the beginning.
Some of you are ex scientologists.
Some of you, (like myself) stumbled upon here by chance and was outraged by what they read and decided to stay.

Anyone care to share?

I can't remember when I first heard about Scientology (being an SF fan I'd heard about Hubbard long ago, though I was never a fan of his stuff).

The first time I really became aware of ARS was when several Scientologists went to the Channel 4 on-line forum in an attempt to stop the broadcast of the Secret Lives documentary on Hubbard.

I was appalled by the libelous nature of some of the posts there by the Scientologists and the obvious fact that few (if any) actually lived in the UK. Just like here, they avoided difficult questions and attacked the film makers rather than the issues raised.

Anyway, all that led me to seek out anti-scientology sites and this newsgroup. I've never had any contact directly with Scientology, nor has anyone I know. I'm here because their objectionable tactics to stop a documentary led me to seek out more info on them.

In short, if the 'attack, attack, attack, never defend' policy wasn't used by them I probably would never be here at all, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that is true for.
