The Scien-ku-tron Mk VII Super (beta) seems to be functioning well.  I
found all the parts at Radio Shack and Toys-R-Us, except for the Tesla
coil and that HUGE capacitor (a couple rolls of tinfoil, some wax paper;
no problem.  Getting Microsoft on our side was a coup -- setup and config
was a breeze.

Hereby consigned to public domain is the very first output, which took
approx. 1.57941 nanoseconds to process.

OOoohh! this baby's vicious at times!  It's a lot of fun too, but the
neighbors are complaining about their TV reception (if I could borrow the
oscilloscope for a bit I think I can trim that out).  I haven't messed
with the entheta-beam output feature at all yet, but how do I know if it's
really off?  My cat won't go near it.  Should I be worried?  Should Koos
be warned?

At first I thought I had goofed up major because the RS-232 output
appeared to be total gibberish, but after reviewing the "hepful hints"
section of the manual I found that I had inadvertantly set it for
"acronym" -- a neat feature!  Totally awesome in full-auto mode.  Of
course, I realize the Mk VII was designed mainly as an offensive weapon,
for pickets and covert ops, and full-auto-acro mode is nothing to toy
with, even without the entheta-beam thing..

If I can fashion a suitable dish I'll try the beam on the guy in the green
chevy, but I haven't got the 2-way stuff built yet so I'd only be able to
report based on external indicators (i.e. does he flee or look confused,
etc).  A full report will be submitted via the usual secure channel.  

So far, this thing looks like a winner.  I suspect it will be very
effective in handling lawsuits, etc.  Once the arscc(wdne) Swamp-Works
gets a few thousand produced, we can't lose
