Making his own pace

Jose McLaughlin, from Liverpool, England and one time member of the pop group Gerry and the Pacemakers, is starting out on a new musical adventure here in Melbourne.

Jose, of Toward St, Murrumbeena, has been living in Australia for two and a half years. He originally toured Australia with the Pacemakers and decided he liked Melbourne so much he'd come and live here.

He was a regular on the Ernie Sigley Show last year as one half of the popular singing duo "Joe And Julie."

Jose also spent his time working with rock group "Pantha" and performing on several top selling records.

He is presently musical director at the "Top Hat" nightclub in Bourke St and is now forming a group to record an album of original songs.

Other members of the group are local musicials Gary Collier, Bruce Simpson and Frank Andrewartha and they will record their own compositions, based on new ideas in communication developed by noted American philosopher and founder of Scientology, - Ron Hubbard.

Jose is pictured with "Julie" when they were regulars on the Ernie Sigley Show last year.
