[NOTE: I have since checked again - this mission is listed in the online White Pages; the printed version I had here (June 1997) doesn't have it listed under 'H' or 'D'.] From: fun@thingy.apana.org.au (David Gerard) Newsgroups: alt.religion.scientology Subject: Mission of Melbourne: reconaissance Date: Sat, 02 May 1998 15:43:47 GMT Organization: Please try to understand before one of us dies. X-Newsreader: Forte Agent 1.5/32.451 I was out that way, so I decided to FINALLY check out the Mission of Melbourne, 55a Glenferrie Rd, Malvern - particularly after Inducto's reports that it was no longer listed on the CoS web pages, and so might no longer exist. Well, it still seems to be there. Or something is there, anyway. It's in the southernmost section of Glenferrie Road, in the very busy strip of shops near the Malvern Central shopping mall. The mission is at number 55a Glenferrie Road. It is next to a picture framer called 'Print Decor', at number 55. The mission has a large picture on an easel in front of the door (intended, I think, to make the curious too embarrassed to obviously snoop - but hey, I was on a mission from Xenu :-), and if you look through the (glass) door there are lots of pictures and frames in there. This leads me to assume the framer is actually the mission-holder. There is an A4 laser-printed sign saying 'Hubbard Dianetics Foundation' on the door, with the hours - Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, 7pm-10pm. There is also a doorbell button, asking you to press for entry. Maybe the mission is up the stairs. Nothing remarkable out the back - looks like the back of a picture framer. The listed phone number for the Mission (as Hubbard Dianetics Foundation) is (03) 9576 1834 - that's from the Yellow Pages listing under 'Churches', it's *not* in the current White Pages - but Print Decor's number is different. I haven't tried the number; I'll do so some time soon, I think. I got pics from across the road, closer up and through the door. No-one spotted me taking pics - admittedly it was quite a busy Saturday afternoon - but I was still slightly disappointed :-) The pics will be scanned some time, probably not before next web-page update though. -- http://thingy.apana.org.au/~fun/ AGSF Unit 0|4 http://suburbia.net/~fun/ Stop JUNK EMAIL Boycott AMAZON.COM http://mickc.home.mindspring.com/index1.htm "One day the almighty clue bird will shit on your head" - oddlystrange
