After almost 5 years and exhausting all avenues in attempting to locate Expeditioners, the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) will cease actively seeking out the recipients. The unclaimed Medallions will still be available for future claims by the recipients, or their next of kin, but will be consigned to archives.
Patricia Wadington, Mary Mulligan, Vicki Norris, and no doubt numerous others helpers are to be sincerely thanked for their efforts over the years of the search.
At the time of the Media release of 31 October 1997, 797 Expeditioners (with multiple winters 980 Medallions) had been identified.
As of 8 September 2003, 121 Expeditioners (137 Medallions) are yet to be located.
85% of Expeditioners have been found.
For 6 Station/Years all expeditioners have been found.
If you have any information about the remaining 121 Expeditioners, or their families, please contact the AAD.
