Note: If you do not have a suburbia account, but would like to apply for one, click here.
Standard telnet access to Suburbia was once offered but is no longer available. However, if you have an account, you are still able to connect to your suburbia shell account using SSH instead. If you're not familiar with SSH, it acts very similarly to telnet, except that it has the capability of encrypting your connection, and is therefore a better option security-wise. More information on the benefits of SSH over telnet can be found at http://www.ssh.org/
You may already have an SSH client on your system. If not, some URLs are offered to the right which allow you to download and install freeware versions of SSH.
If you are unable to use SSH on your system, you can still access your shell through Suburbia's port 2323. Telnet clients default to port 23 by default. Almost all will allow you to telnet to a machine using any port you specify. For example, on a unix system, you'd just type:
telnet suburbia.com.au 2323

Java Applet SSH client:
- A Java applet version of SSH is available to use from your browser to connect to Suburbia. Note that you need a recent browser, and that it will not work on some platforms.
