I came here in early 1994 shortly after getting onto the local freenet and doing a search through Usenet for "scientology". I found the group to be a quiet backwater (a dozen posts per day) where very few of the posters knew anything about Scientology. It didn't take long to change that situation and open people's eyes to the true nature of the beast. My motivation here is what I consider my civic duty: to prevent anyone else from wasting years of their lives and thousands of dollars on the cult as I did. I do this through education and dissemination of information about the cult, largely through their own materials or through critical materials by other authors. As I like to say, Scientology can fuck with just so many people over so many years and get away with it, silencing through fear and intimidation, but eventually they will fuck with the wrong person, just by the laws of chance. That person was me; they should *never* have lied to me, ripped me off, and used me for their purposes and exploited me. Big fucking mistake. Now they get taken down. -- Cogito, ergo sum.
